Melissa Redmer Mullahey, the oldest of three children, was raised in Perry Hall.
She realized she enjoyed working with the community at the age of 14, when she got her first job at the Parkville American Legion, while attending Perry Hall High School. When she was 16, she got a second job waitressing at Columbus Gardens in Fullerton. She also later worked at Benefitmall.com as a data processor. In part, these jobs helped Melissa develop the strong work ethic she has today. Additionally, her career and community experience has shown a willingness to accept leadership, and the hard work to get results.
She graduated from Towson University in 2000 with a bachelor of science degree in mass communication, specializing in public relations, and a minor in business administration. During her senior year, she had the privilege of interning at St. Joseph Medical Center.
Since 2001, she has been working at a marketing communications firm in Annapolis. Serving as an account executive, Melissa oversees a variety of accounts and plans and executes programs that include print and broadcast advertising, public relations, direct marketing, brochures, newsletters, and Web site strategy.
In April of 2002, Melissa, a life-long resident of the Perry Hall/Rosedale community, married her high school sweetheart, Mike Mullahey, Jr. of Fullerton. Mike, a Calvert Hall and Drexel alumnus, is a pilot plant manager at J.M. Huber Corporation in Havre de Grace. Mike coaches lacrosse for Overlea Recreation Council.
Continuously active in community service, Redmer Mullahey is a member of the Perry Hall Improvement Association, Women’s Club of Perry Hall, Ladies Club of Cardinal Gibbons Council No. 2521 Knights of Columbus, and Republican Club of Northeast Baltimore County.
She volunteers at Our Daily Bread and attends Saint Michael’s church. In addition, she served as an altar server at St. Stephen’s Church in Bradshaw, was a Sunday school teacher for 6 years, and received catechist certification.
Melissa has been an enthusiastic political activist for many years. At age 4, her political involvement started with rolling up campaign newspapers for Congresswoman Helen Delich Bentley. After working for Congresswoman Bentley, Congressman Ehrlich, and many local candidates, Melissa was elected member of the Republican Central Committee in 2002 and served as second vice-chairperson. She was elected Alternate Delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2004 and served as Alternate to the Republican Central Committee from 1994 to 2002.

No stranger to politics, her father, Al Redmer, Jr., was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates for 13 years and was appointed Maryland Insurance Commissioner in 2003. Today he is CEO of Coventry Health Care of Delaware. Her mother, Debbie Redmer, is a loan officer at K Bank.
She has two brothers, Buddy (28) and Corey (24). Buddy is an auditor at Johns Hopkins and Corey is an account executive at HMS Insurance Associates.
